The conference is to bring together good practice on the Island with local businesses, green growth actors, and to provide an opportunity for participants to contribute to Isle of Wight Council plans.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Matthew Cragoe

Chair of UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Committee in the UK
Matthew is currently Pro Vice Chancellor (Arts) at the University of Lincoln, and has published widely in the field of modern British history, with a specialisation in the history of the eighteenth- and nineteenth- century countryside. He is currently writing a history of eighteenth century cricket.

Cllr Dave Stewart

Leader, Isle of Wight Council
Councillor Stewart has been Leader of the Isle of Wight Council since May 2017. He lives in the rural south Wight and has a background in leadership and management. He is currently Chair of the Hampshire Police & Crime Panel.

Reniera O’Donnell

Deputy Director of Regeneration, Isle of Wight Council
Reniera joined the Isle of Wight Council as Assistant Director Regeneration in January 2017 and leads on the regeneration delivery projects within the programme. Originally from South Africa, Reniera moved to the UK in 2001 and has worked in Local Government ever since. [More]

Prof. AbuBakr Bahaj

University of Southampton
Professor Bahaj leads the 55-strong Energy and Climate Change Division and Sustainable Energy Research Group at the University of Southampton, where he holds a Personal Chair in Sustainable Energy. Major research programmes can be found at www.energy.soton.ac.uk.
